Is life currently feeling confusing or overwhelming and you are finding it hard to engage with others. Get in touch if this sounds like you and change is desired.
“Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
James Baldwin
My name is Loraine and I began therapy following a marriage breakdown. I wanted to reconnect with ‘myself’ after many years on autopilot as a mother and wife. I had ‘got lost’ along the way and wasn’t living to my best potential or with ease in my new skin.
As we take our journey through life it always feels better when we feel supported and/or understood. I can be that person that can ‘hold your hand’, be the listening ear without judgment, in the new discoveries or repairing old thoughts that have ‘got in the way’ holding you back.
I feel that nothing would shock or surprise me in this world after in excess of 50 years in this world. I understand the complexities of life that challenge us. Let’s explore and work through these challenges in front of us now.
About Me
I would love to help you explore and find your hidden strengths and potential. I am positive, supportive, and approachable.
A mother of grown-up children, I’ve been married and divorced – twice! These experiences have shaped me and I can look back with new knowledge and understanding of myself.
I am down to earth, really understand relationship struggles, and have a huge passion for my role as counsellor.
About You
You may be struggling to adjust to your life circumstances or seeking clarity around a particular issue. You might feel overwhelmed or scared – and that’s ok. I can sit with you there.
You don’t have to be mentally ill to see a counsellor, in fact, I would argue that seeing a counsellor is beneficial for everyone’s mental health.
If you want to improve your relationships, and quite frankly who doesn’t, you will benefit from counselling.
Services
If you’d like to get in touch, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. The purpose of this is to discover if we connect, as the relationship between therapist and client is of ultimate importance. You can also ask any questions you have, and I can tell you a bit more about me.
I offer face to face counselling or online/telephone counselling from Horsham, West Sussex.
Common Struggles
Anxiety
Sometimes life can become overwhelming and we can’t see the woods for the trees, we overthink, we procrastinate.
You may find you struggle to eat or overeat, you can’t sleep. All these things are neither helpful nor enabling for us to bring peace and relaxation into our inner world.
Menopause
This is a natural transition of life for a woman, however, it can be completely overwhelming and we can have a sense of loss of our identity and the person we once were. This can feel like a very frightening stage of life.
Menopause affects 51% of the population and every woman will experience it from one degree to another. The family and friends may not understand ‘us’ either as we have changed.
I have huge passion in this area, being a female and experience of. We can work together to find harmony and peace within our inner world once again.
Addiction
When something is missing in life, it might feel easier to shut down to external demands. Or we may have a sense that we need to feel alive in this world? We want to take the feelings away. It can feel comfortable to have something like alcohol, drugs, shopping, gambling to make us feel ok with ourselves.
Working through the drives and foundation behind the addiction can bring an understanding of ourselves so that we can manage the addiction and life demands.
Depression
When life can feel a struggle and every day a battle, getting out of bed, not sleeping, dressing, and managing day-to-day life can be a huge effort. Finding work and family life too much to face.
I can help you find a way forward and upwards, from where it feels heavy and bring light and joy back in your life. All I ask of you is to be present and allow for us to explore what is holding you back.
Grief and Loss
This is something that we will all experience in life, from the loss of a loved one through death or a loss of friendship. We can also have a sense of loss at the end of a marriage or losing fulfilling employment.
We might not feel able to operate or think about anything else in life, but the huge void in our life due to that loss.
Grief can bring emotions of loss, anger, shame, and sadness of wishing we could have done more or alone in the world.
I can help you navigate the process and transition of grief to find a space for you to feel calmer and find acceptance to allow you to feel at once again.
Testimonial
I went to see Loraine because I felt so overwhelmed with sadness and frustration and I couldn’t continue to live my life that way, but wasn’t sure how to fix it.
Having Loraine to talk to and guide me each week has changed my life completely! The way I see the world, other people and most importantly myself.
I feel at peace with the trauma I’ve suffered and I feel so protective of myself and my well-being, having put in this work, that I will not allow anyone to be abusive towards me again.
My relationship with my children has improved massively, I’ve been exercising, looking after myself and I’ve grown the confidence to stand up for myself at work! These are just a couple of examples of how my life has improved in such short time.
so for the first time EVER I am grateful to be here and excited to see where I go from here. And I owe that to wonderful Loraine
